Thing 5

Okay - this is my favority Thing so far! Love the accesibility of video and podcasts. I'd never been on hulu before, although I'd seen the promotional commercials.

I selected "Million dollar winner" from the Price is Right. Drew Carey is great!

We've subscribed to Netflix for 2 years. One year ago we purchased a Roku box, which allows us to stream movies or tv shows -- right onto our television. From Netflix's website, I select the movie/tv show titles for my queue. It's very slick.

Thing 5 took about 1 hour.

Thing 4

Delicious -- this was a tricky module to complete at lunch time; it's hard to focus when you're hungry! Delicous is a great tool to stream line access to information. I really liked the video demonstating how Delicious can be used in an academic setting. The LibraryThing demonstrates a great method for catologing books. I will adapt this method for my Bookclub's books! I spent 45 minutes on Thing 4.

Thing 3

Today, I've committed to diving back into my Things training. I've re-read Getting Started and Thing 2.

I completed Thing 3 relatively fast -- 30 minutes. I love the RSS feeds; it's a great way to view headlines quickly! I found various RSS feeds by surfing my favority websites: CNN & NEJM.

I'm familiar with PubMed, so the Extra Challenge came together pretty fast.

What a great way to get reliable information -- fast.

Thing 2

The primary reason I am participating in "Explore 8 Things" is to ramp up my knowledge of Web 2.0. I want to learn more about interactive technology, be able to navigate through tools, and leverage this technology. The internet has been accessible throughout my career. It has served as the first point of contact for research and communication. The bad part about using the Internet is the time lost surfing. The recommended YouTube videos were great! What an effective way to tie into the learnings of this session. I did not complete this Thing in one time period. Overall, I spend about 1 - 1/2 hours.

Extra Challenge: PubMed identified 96 items for "Web 2.0". I read a few abstracts.

Today I have started my first blog. What a great way to venture into web 2.0. It's only the beginning!
